A double cornered felt hat believed to belong to Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte of the First French Empire sold for nearly 2 million euros at the Druau auction house in France on the 19th, setting a new record for Napoleon's hat auction.

Reuters reported, citing the head of an auction house, that the estimated price of this black beaver felt hat is 600000 to 800000 euros, with an actual transaction price including commission of 1.932 million euros, breaking Napoleon's record for the highest auction of another hat in 2014 with 1.884 million euros. That hat was also auctioned off at the Druo auction house.

Auctioneer Jean Pierre Osena introduced that the black double cornered felt hat was Napoleon's iconic hat and a part of his image. Napoleon had about 120 such hats in his lifetime. When wearing a double cornered hat, he always aimed the corners towards the left and right sides, aligned with his shoulders, while most people at that time pointed the two corners of the hat towards the front and back respectively.
